I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: there is nothing like a Maui sunset.
If you haven’t yet had the chance to experience the day’s finale from the island’s shorelines, anywhere on the island’s west coast will give you a spectacular uninterrupted view of the horizon during golden hour. Here are some of my favorite places to catch the big show:
- Head to Foodland, pack a picnic complete with POG cocktails and poke, and watch the sun set from a beach or park
- Wailea Beach or Makena Beach in South Maui
- Keawakapu Beach, Kama’ole I, II, or III (Kam 1, 2, or 3), Charley Young, or the Cove in Kihei
- Launiupoko Beach Park or on the grassy knoll right passed Lahaina Harbor in Lahaina
- Ka’anapali Beach, DT Fleming, and Kapalua in the greater Kapalua area
- For prime sunset watching at a restaurant, checkout Kimo’s, Lahaina Grill, Mala Ocean Tavern, or Merriman’s
This particular sunset was taken from Kihei. Enjoy. And don’t forget to bring your camera.
