There are only four green sand beaches in the entire world and one of them is on the Big Island of Hawaii. Papakolea Beach is located just east of South Point, the southernmost tip of the United States. You can only access the beach by foot or an SUV of sorts as the paths are incredibly rugged. But for a couple of bucks per person, you can hitch a ride with some locals to and from the closest parking area and the beach. But between the pasturelands, burnt sienna-colored hills, varying verticals, and these views, it really is worth the hike to get there.
